Dr. Shah is Board Certified in Otolaryngology. He treats both children and adults and specializes in the surgical treatment of chronic sinusitis, hoarseness, ear infections, thyroid and parathyroid disease, head & neck cancers, sleep apnea, snoring, dizziness, swallowing difficulties, and hearing loss.
Dr. Shah received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA. He then received his medical degree with honors from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, and went to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, for his surgical training. He completed his internship in general surgery under the guidance of John Cameron, MD, and continued at Johns Hopkins Hospital for his residency in Otolaryngology under Charles Cummings, MD.
Before attending medical school, Dr. Shah also spent time working for Hewlett-Packard's Medical Product Group, where he designed components used in bedside monitors in critical care settings in hospitals. These units are still in use today. Dr. Shah is also the co-author of several journal articles investigating the relationship between microscopic inner ear structures to hearing function. He has presented this work at research conferences.
He is a member of both the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery and Alpha Omega Alpha (a medical honor society). Dr. Shah served as the Department of Surgery Chairman at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City from 2002 to 2004; this is after serving as the Vice Chairman from 2000 to 2002.
In 2010 Dr. Shah was invited to join the faculty of Florida State University - College of Medicine (FSU-COM), where he now serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Shah is also active in the Boy Scouts of America with his three sons, and serves as a Merit Badge Counselor teaching Medicine and First Aid Merit Badges.
